Janice Tsoh, PhD

I am a practicing clinical psychologist and Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). I also serve as Co-Director of the Asian American Research Center on Health (AsianARCH.org). The mission of my research program is to promote health equity by developing accessible interventions that can empower individuals and families to make informed health decisions and to take an active role in staying healthy.

Sue Yom, MD, PhD

Professor in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Professor in Radiation Oncology
Radiation Oncology

I am a radiation oncologist who specializes in the treatment of head and neck, lung, and skin cancers. I serve on national guidelines committees outlining the best practices for these cancers. I design clinical trials to improve treatment of these cancers. I give lectures and design courses to help others learn more about how to best treat these cancers. I am a journal editor and interested in publishing the best scientific research on these diseases.

Stella Bialous, RN, DrPH, FAAN

I have worked in tobacco and cancer control for over 30 years nationally and internationally. Tobacco use remains the leading cause of death and disease and a modifiable cause of health disparities.

I have worked extensively with the World Health Organization and other international organizations, and have engaged with a range of national and international civil society groups, particularly in the implementation of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, a UN health treaty.

Patrick Ha, MD

Patrick Ha, MD is a Professor and the Chief of Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS) at the University of California, San Francisco. He is also holds the Irwin Mark Jacobs and Joan Klein Jacobs Distinguished Professorship in Head and Neck Surgery. After graduating magna cum laude from Harvard University, he received his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.

Lisa Kroon, PharmD

Dr. Lisa Kroon is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy in the School of Pharmacy at the University of California in San Francisco. She holds an executive pharmacy leadership role at UCSF Health since 2020, where she was appointed the Assistant Chief Pharmacy Officer for Clinical Innovation, Education, and Research for the Pharmacy Enterprise, where she oversees ambulatory pharmacy practice. My interests include developing multilingual digital health interventions and culturally and linguistically sensitive patient-centered resources. I am an intern with the Asian American Research Center on Health (ARCH). In the future, I hope to practice medicine in urban underserved communities and continue to be involved in digital health research. 

Chigozie Onyeagoro

I am a clinical research assistant at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) receiving clinical research training focused on tobacco cessation. I aim to use the skills I have learned and observed within the clinical setting and implement this for when I become a future medical doctor. I am highly interested in tobacco cessation and helping individuals continue to stay smoke free, as this will be essential in all types of future healthcare I hope to provide.

Edgar Yu

Edgar Yu is the Research Coordinator for the CareConnect Project at the University of California, San Francisco. Edgar was born in San Francisco and grew up in its Chinatown and North Beach neighborhoods. He then completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis in Psychology and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Edgar now continues his work with Dr. Janice Tsoh and many other collaborators in their work on smoking cessation and Asian American health.
